Wisdom in nature

As I was running through my neighborhood this morning, I saw a beautiful raptor fly from one high tree to another with amazing grace. My mouth opened in awe before I broke into a wide smile. You see whenever I see one of those beautiful birds, I think of my father. The next thought that popped into my head was of his very good friend Rich, who came to see him nearly every Friday after my father had his lung surgery. Sometimes he would walk through the door bearing a pizza and a six pack of beer to share. Thinking of Rich and his devoted friendship to my father made me realize what a true friend is. A true friend is the one who will be there bringing the pizza and beer to share with you when you are too tired to go out and have a good time. In today's fast-paced, web-based world, it is really easy to keep up with people without seeing or actually speaking to each other. I hope you take the time to call your loved ones or send them a written note - at least every once in awhile. The Lord made us to be in relationship with one another, which will lead to a more abundant and joyful life for each and everyone of us. Happy Monday all!

Quote of the day: "Love and kindness are never wasted. They always make a difference. They bless the one who receives them, and they bless you, the giver." -Barbara De Angelis
